1-wire missing

Post by rhendriks » Saturday 14 July 2018 19:12

Since the last update are my 1-wire sensors missing.
If I look into the log ,I have no errors only 2 tabs.

Having only two tabs is no error (I think). I have three tabs, but when I clear the history (red cross in upper right of screen), the error log disappears.
It comes back in view when a error has been written to log.

That leaves not very much to go on with your missing 1-wire. maybe you have some more info? is your device missing or the hardware all together?
what version of domoticz are you running? and what steps have you performed to try and resolve the problem?

v4.9766 is the domotica version, the missing 1-wire are 6 ds1820's .
Can't find something in the log what is wrong.
It must be wrong in the software .
I think that it's going wrong by startup .

hi, a few days ago I think after an update of DOMOTICZ, the DS18B20 sensors connected to the Raspberry Pi3 with s.o. stretch Version: 4.9785 Build Hash: 7bd0f5f4 Compile Date: 8-07-15 16:41:39 dzVents Version: 2.4.7 that, worked for a few months, are no longer updated on the panel of temperatures, the last contact dates back to day 10 / 7/2018. In the Domoticz hardware log, 1wire sensors are read correctly but Domoticz no longer updates the temperature. Does anyone have any idea why this happens?

Yep. 1-wire died for me after the beta update I did on the 14-15th. Using 1-wire mounted on Domoticz server with owserver.
It does not read any data from my 1-wire sensors and later the values goes red because lack of update.
Same with 9786 that is out now. Going back to older binary (9763 that I have available from older backup) makes it work again.

Is it not possible to roll back to an working system?

EDIT: If I setup new hardware en then look for new sensors in the device tab ,I see my new 1-wire sensors .
If I add these new devices then I see that they are update every time.
If I then look for new hardware , I see the seem sensors which I add a minute ago.
With restart Domoticz I did not see that the 1-wire initialize.

Something similar on my system. From 2018-07-18, after update, all my 13 1-wire sensors connected thru OWFS don't update anymore. I see that we can find all of them with different ID but I don't understand the relation between the ID find on linux and the ID give by domotitcz ! If I change them I lost history and I don't know who is who !!! And isn't easy to find the new address of each of them !

Hello guys

I got the same issue a few days ago, certainly after an update from beta channel.
My 3 DS18B20 don't update anymore.
After a restart of the raspberry, 3 new ds18b20 are detected and update correctly: Great but if I use them I lose the history of the old ones.
Is there something I can do to reassign the new ones to the old ones ? or merge them?
I can see a different kind of ID between old ones and new ones: with letters before without now...

Thanks for your help.

I Think: I delete the 1-wire hardware and add new 1-wire hardware .
The next problem is:
I add new 1-wire in de hardware menu, normally can I see new hardware in the device menu .
But there is no 1- wire device to see.
If I restart ,it looks like that the 1-wire kernel module not is loaded .
If I go with an ssh connection to the rpi then can I see this:

Code: Select all

This happened to all my ~20 1wire devices (mostly temperature).
I noticed that after scanning the bus Domoticz re-registered all devices and gave them a new device ID.
So I just added all new devices and gave them names guessing there location based on temperature showing.
Then I went to each old existing device and selected "replace" with the new device. All historic data is then intact and the few days of data collected under the new device ID was also added. So no loss of data.

Unfortunately the new calculation of device ID resulted in that two of my sensors had their data stored with same device ID. E.g. my kitchen freezer and the bedroom temperature was added to the same table resulting in that the graph for my bedroom temperature was jumping between -20C and +25C... I replace the sensor in the bedroom with a new one to solve that

Same problem here since last (beta) update no reading on the 1 wire DS18b20 , allthough they are still in the system and available.

Removed the 1-wire and after a reboot it was able to connect, strange thing is there was an owfs path filled in after clearing the field i saw my sensors again.

Same problem for me, so I dug into the software to find that a small change had been made in file hardware/1Wire/1WireCommon.cpp in DeviceIdToByteArray() Domoticz version 4.9801

where "i" used to be declared as "unsigned int i", and in new update is declared as "uint8_t i;" loosing some information during conversion.
so I set it to "uint16_t i" and all is back to normal, ID are correct and sensor history is preserved.

.............
for (unsigned int idx=0;idx<DEVICE_ID_SIZE;idx++)
{
std::stringstream ss;
uint16_t i; /* ------> was uint8_t */
ss << std::hex << str.substr(2*idx,2);
if (!(ss >> i))
byteArray[DEVICE_ID_SIZE-idx-1]=0;
byteArray[DEVICE_ID_SIZE-idx-1]=i;
}
...................

have fun,
Alain

Ok... we can find differents solutions... but what's next step in future update ???
I want 2 things :
- keep my temperature history of each sensors (about 13)
- know how's how if we keep new reference for 1-Wire (but I'dont think it's a good idea because we can find link with officiel address used by Linux of other systems)

Now we find some solutions in the forum :
- change in code and compile > we find again old reference / but on next updates ? we have to do everytime the same modification ?
- replace old reference by new one > loose history / don't know how's how / what's about next update ?
- replace old reference by new one in database ? > is it possible if next update keep parameter like that ?

Questions ?
- It's a bug or a improvement for some people ?
- If it's a improvemen, can we keep a Y in parameters to choose : old system used by a lot of people / new system ?

thanks for all your work !

Can I ask a very simple question:

Can I, with Domoticz running on Windows, read the temperature from a DS18B20 sensor connected to a DS9490R USB-to-1wire adapter which is plugged into my Windows PC? I know that my sensor is working and is correctly connected to the PC, since if I run OneWireViewer, I can see the sensor and log its readings. I just need to be able to do the same thing from Domoticz.

If I should be able to do this, please can you give me blow by blow instructions on how to get it working? What software do I have to install, how do I have to configure Domoticz etc.?

Many thanks - Rowan
