RFXCOM Noisy data

Post by qqlapraline » Friday 14 September 2018 11:48

Version: 4.9999
Platform: Raspberry PI / Raspbian 4.14.69+
Plugin/Hardware: RFXCom / Firmware 1025
Description:

I've been having a RFXCom for the past 3 years. Unfortunately, since about 6 months, I get noisy data (see below on zoomed charts).
chart (1).png
chart (1).png (81.26 KiB) Viewed 372 times
The attachment chart (1).png is no longer available
Most received values are OK but some of them are totally wrong.
I have checked many things (USB ports, rfxcom position, various updates, ...) with no success.
I have many sensors running through RFXCom (about 12).

If anybody has an idea, I would be gratefull.
Regards,

Hi

Just to not forget the obious, battery levels are ok or powersupply checked. Mine are behaving strange when batt are getting low.

Is it just one sensor ? or more ?

Has there anything been changed ?

I would look into or a broken sensor, or in background noise of some kind of transmitter (neighbours ?)

Thanks for you reply.
It's all the sensors (around 27 devices). Some of them have low battery level but most of them are good.

In the RFX manual there is a table of devicetypes that are not getting along with each other, did you check those settings.
I once had a time that Domoticz screwup those settings, then I had to revert back to RFXmngr to get them right again.
What firmware are you using in RFX?
Regards,
Eddy

Yep, I did.
The default protocols are activated.
But you may be right. I will try to have a look at it when possible.
Nonetheless, the settings have not changed for the past months.

I have checked again my installation.
It appears that a former device was remaining in the list after its hardware uninstallation.
It was linked to the same USB port... This was the cause of the noise.
After 3 days of fix, no more noise.
Sorry for this, guys ;)

My server and RFXTRXe are in the attic on 1 side of the house (facing the garden, since most of my equipment I use is there), but now I want to use a door-sensor on the first floor (4 ceilings between them) on the other side of the house.
I can not get a signal there, not even with a new antenna, but I do have network (CAT5e) there connected.
So how to achieve this? A 433 to lan to 433 converter of somesorts?
Install ser2net on a Raspberry PI to connect the RFXtrx over LAN:
