[Name:] Alex
[Country:] Austria
[City:] Villach
[Occupation:] Digital circuit design engineer (semiconductor industry)
[Hobbies:] Mountainbiking, tinkering, gadgets, some uC programming & since a few month messing around with our now smart house :)
[Choice for Domoticz:] I checked out a few before settling for domoticz. Domoticz was the only platform that supported all my hardware and I especially liked the good support and the hassle-free approach to get things running on one hand and the ultimate flexibility to implement complicated stuff on the other hand
[My role here?] Adopt, adapt, improve :) I am always trying to learn new things here, adapt them to my needs, improve them & then give something back to this helpful community :)
[My role here?] Raspberry Pi 2, an OpenTherm gateway, an Aeotec Gen5 Z-Wave stick for talking to my huge Z-Wave-network consisting of lots of switches, dimmers, multisensors and other stuff (mostly Aeotec) and a small army of Arduino Nanos providing a MySensors network, something I just recently started and which I find quite exciting. Oh, the possibilities :)

[Occupation:]Software engineer - C/AL, MS SQL, PHP, MySQL, Web
[Hobbies:]Home off-grid solar system, home automation, my son&wife, wife is very nice hobby :D
[Choice for Domoticz:]I developed my own system based on Arduino and PHP+MySQL, but it start to be too huge for arduino, so I migrated to Raspberry Pi and with that I found OpenHAB, OpenEnergyMonitor and Domoticz. And Domoticz was most friendly step from my system. With small modification, I switched all my hardware to new heart..
[My role here?]Just confused user? :) I don't have creating and programing sensor, because of my son and work around house, so I can not cooperate on Domoticz creation, but I hope this will come one day.

Big thanks to Rob Peters (Gizmocuz) - Domoticz are so great project :)

[Choice for Domoticz:] Having inherited my parents house located 500 km from home, I needed to control heating, cut mains water, read electricity and gas meters ..., and also during rebuilding I have installed many D-IO switches and receivers to control lighting (no wires to set in walls) so I have also a RFXtrx. Installed a weather station to collect temp / rain info ... more to come
I needed an open system I could eventually tune and enhance, and I compile my own versions
[My role here?]Actively using, still learning ... and if I can suggest/propose any useful features

[Occupation:]Quality Engineer and Office Manager in a High-end electronic company
[Hobbies:]Music, Electronic, Photography, Computer, Domotic
[Choice for Domoticz:]Opensource and lot of functionnalities
[My role here?]I had a project to use a Raspberry Pi 2 to add functionnalities to my Niko Home Control system and during searching and learning about Rpi ways to do that I discover Domoticz... Why invent and build a little wheel from scrach when people do a better job and you have just to do some improvents to have what you want ! Now the project is : understand and control Domoticz to add functionnalities like controling Niko Home Control to add the intelligence that this system don't have (controling blind depending to temperature inside and sun outside... turn off heating floor some hours before if sunny day expected... turn on outside light when night come... and perhaps in the future controlling washing machine when sun produce electricity ?) Domotic was a geek game some years ago... but will be the standard for new home to take care about the planet ! Controlling waste power... connecting all the device to work together... This is the beginning ! We are pioneer ! We open the way... Most of people believe than we are crazy ! but I some years crazy people will be people who don't follow us !

[Occupation:] Product manager at a solar energy distributor / system integrator
[Hobbies:] Music, Technology, Hanging out with friends, Traveling
[Choice for Domoticz:] I recently moved in to my new build house and want to start with domotica. At first I want to explore the possibilities on energy management as this is also an occupational interest but gradually I want to add more and more functionality. After a search online I found Domoticz as a cheap and complete solution.
[My role here?] As Domoticz, domotica, programming and all the other good stuff is brand new to me, my role here for now will be mainly searching for information and probably asking a lot of questions.
