if you assign switches to the camera, and those switches are favorite, you should see a webcam icon in the widget (top right)

Hi, i dont know what you mean.. ive added two cams.. and i can see them in more options -> cameras... but where can i assign a switch?

Not by editing the camera.. not in manual add in switches.. and not in hardware.. the manual doesnt say it either

Thanks in advance,

Hans,

1. Go to the Camera Tab: Setup - More Options - Camera
2. Select the camera
3. Scroll down to 'ACTIVE DEVICES/SCENES'
4. Assign the desired switch to the camera (see screenshot below)
5. Go back to the switches tab
6. Now you see a little camera icon next to the switch

I got this to work, but I don't see the connection, as in why I need to assign the camera to a switch?
I added a virtual switch for this, but this seems more complicated than it should be.

Maybe to switch on/off the camera?

HI,

This is an old threat, but I got the same issue. I have added the camera to domoticz, added a switch to it. But I don't see any icons appearing on the switch page or on the favorites page?

In the above setup it looks like the camera emails a snapshot when opening a door.

The icon appears on the far right in the scene/switch top bar, right after the status.

And yes you are correct, if you configured email a snapshot from the camera will be sent when the switch is set to the corresponding on or off state. In above example this is a switch that is somehow related to a door, which may indicate a switch that is triggered by the door opening and closing, or an outside light mounted next to it.

Hi,

Just trying to get my ipcam to work.
- Ip-Cam added
- Switch connected
- Notification and emailing a picture works

But now I want to have a popup/screen or something on my pc-monitor with the same picture as emailed to my mobile-phone.
When I push on the 'webcam' at the switch the popup will shown... but I want the picture to show when the sensor goes to on....

I hope you understand my problem. How can I solve this.

Hi.

I can't really see the point of adding a switch to the camera in the camera menu.
What is the purpose of it?

Send a snapshot to email is done by creating an event. Why I have to add the switch in the camera menu? What can it do?

Hmm. Thx for enlightening me :-)
