Ok my dropbox is not working properly, so here is the link to the other place I downloaded it from, someone else's dropbox. I hope they don't mind me reposting.

Thanks, let's see if it works better then in combination with tasker, because that stops working after a few days.

I returned to this thread again at lunchtime and was going to start it off again myself actually. I downloaded tasker and the motion app but could never get it to work at all. I've now downloaded the plugin (hope the owner doesn't mind) but still can't get the screen to work on motion. I can see the motion app registering events in the settings mode but if I turn the screen off and move about it just stays off. I must have something wrong in the settings of either the motion app or the plugin or both!
Running Domoticz on Pi3 with RFXtrx433e. LWRF power sockets and dimmer switches. Integrated my existing wirefree alarm PIRs and door contacts with domoticz. Geofencing with Pilot. Harmony Hub. Tado for Heating. Now playing with mysensors.

hmmm, not sure why it's not working.

Did you set the camera in motion detector to be the front camera, not the back? And in the plugin, you should only need to press the button to turn it on or off. Everything else in motion detector are settings to adjust sensitivity etc. (You might need to turn on the setting in Motion Detector to send events to external programs, but that might only be necessary with Tasker. Either way, turning it on can't do any harm)

That looks great!

Did you add the ambilight yourself ?
Does the motion detector work propperly ?

I add smal rounded led stripe with ws2812, domoticz controls it with setpoint, if for example something is wrong domoticz set setpion for this device to "1.0' and then device start to blink with red color.
Motion decetion works with 2 apps,
1. https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... n.detector
2. screen watkeup (sorry i dont have active link)

Bit of a thread bump to revisit this....

I've had my tablet on the wall for months now, working great with motion detector and irule, but has anyone managed to solve the issue of the motion detector not working when ambient light levels are low or non existent? If I walk past it at night in the dark, it won't do anything as it doesn't sense movement as the camera just sees all black

I just did a small infrared experiment. Room completely dark and using my powerful Philips pronto infrared remote control in both repeating volume increase as well as macro mode. I did not try increasing sensitivity of the motion detection app (it is set quite low to function nicely during the day. And I am using an old and cheap tablet..
Might be worth time to experiment with more recent tablet and more intense leds

But how would you achieve that without walking around with a remote control in the dark?!
