Wall Mount Tablet - Amazon Fire £50

Post by thebeetleuk » Friday 20 November 2015 10:06

Hi All,

I'm looking for a tablet to wall mount controls for domoticz. I'm thinking to either run the default gui or use imperihome.

Has anyone tried one of these?

The Amazon tablets run Fire OS, a derivative of Android.
So not all apps are available.

As long as you use Domoticz via the web interface in the browser everything will be fine.

For mounting the tablet you can use f.i. Koala mounts.
Intel NUC-> Philips Hue, Aeon Zwave stick V2, Qubino, Fibaro, Everspring, Philio, RFXCom, X10, Harmony Hub, Xiaomi Flora + Gateway, BS440. And P1 / Resol VBus / Nefit EMS bus / DHT21 / DS18B20 / Sonoff / I2C display, all via Arduino/ESP8266.

Hmm, looks like you are correct. I can't seem to see imperhome on the Amazon store :(

That said I might just go ahead and use the web gui instead. I'll just need to check how big the icons look on that size and resolution of screen as I want to be able to see the setting at a glance.

Thanks!

OK so now that Black friday is here the Amazon fire is only £35!

I have just ordered 2 for home automation and I'm going to use the native web based GUI until I write something myself :)

Thanks for the heads up @thebeetleuk. I'm going to order one and will just use the web based GUI too until you write something ;)
Running Domoticz on Pi3 with RFXtrx433e. LWRF power sockets and dimmer switches. Integrated my existing wirefree alarm PIRs and door contacts with domoticz. Geofencing with Pilot. Harmony Hub. Tado for Heating. Now playing with mysensors.

I think it's possible to install apps that's not on the Amazon store if you have the apk file. At least it works on the fire TV stick

I followed these instructions which installed the play store and also removed the Amazon adds on lock screen and start up.

Have been looking into these as well when they where 35$. Found them to expensive to have shipped from US (by a family member) to NL.
For as far as I've been told adding the google play store isn't that difficult.

Getting better. I now have imperihome installed and I have setup the device to wake the screen on motion detection as I approach using the camera. very cool. Cant wait to get this thing on the wall.

Only thing is now is I cant seem to get imperihome to connect to my system. :|
