Domoticz version 4.9700 released (Stable)

Post by gizmocuz » Sunday 24 June 2018 8:21

Hi Everyone !

After a year of hard work and almost 2000 commits, we are proud to release another stable version of Domoticz !!

Thanks to all developers users and contributors who helped us build and test the beta versions !
Without your support this would not have been possible!

As always, and specially for users using a previous stable version on a raspberry pi that has not recently been updated to 'stretch',
it is a good idea to make a FULL backup of your Domoticz folder (or SD card!)

Then make sure you are on the latest operating system version, for raspbian this is 'Stretch', more on this after the change list below!

If you are using the binary installer of Domoticz, you should be able to upgrade via the menu, or issuing ./updaterelease in the installation folder.

We will try to release new stables on a monthly basis from now on, but please keep testing the beta versions also to help development!

There are to many changes to be listed, but a short list can be found below.

With kind regards,
Rob

NOTE FOR OLD RASPBIAN USERS (<STRETCH)

It might be best to reinstall your system with stretch-lite:

https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/

Some notes about the backup:
- backup the database, this can be done on a running system via the 'Settings' option (backup/restore)
- if you use ZWave, backup the zwave configuration file (Config/zwcfg_xxxxx.xml)
- if you are using floorplans, backup images/floorplans, do not that once you start the new stable, the floowplan images are now moved into the database, for feature backups it is not needed to backup this folder any longer!
- if you are using custom/external scripts, also make a backup of them

Once you have setup a new system, install domoticz via the sudo command:

sudo curl -L install.domoticz.com | bash
(This only work on debian/armbian/ubuntu systems)

make sure Domoticz is running

next stop domoticz with:

sudo service domoticz stop

Now you can restore your backup database/files

next launch domoticz with:

sudo service domoticz start

You should now have a running system again!.

Also note, there have been some changes in the command line parameters related to logging/debugging

We hope the transition will be as smooth as possible!
Quality outlives Quantity!

Hello !

nice to have a new stable ! I was using a beta since a while, but I now am back on stable channel !
All seems to work perfectly for me, even better than before (faster ?), except for 1 thing : upload of custom icons... nothing happens when I click on "Upload"...
I my browser debug console, I can see that the answer is
"error" : "Invalid",
"status" : "OK",
"title" : "UploadCustomIcon"

but it seems odd to me as I am trying to upload a zip which was perfectly taken into account in previous versions... something I missed ?

Thanks.

[EDIT] : Seems like it works but I need to manually refresh the page to have the new icon displayed. The error in the console seems not right though...

Running RBpi3 with Raspbian Stretch Lite.
Got a message from the UI that an update was available and proceeded from there to upgrade.
Most of the process seems to have successfully completed, but afterwards my entire "switches' page is empty, and so is the dashboard, apart from a RFX433-based Luminescence sensor I also had in there before the update.

Both pages load with an error in the console:

Switches: Uncaught ReferenceError: isLED is not defined
Dashboard: DashboardController.js:67 Uncaught ReferenceError: b64DecodeUnicode is not defined

---

After some time (and a few reboots) everything seems to be OK... must have been a caching issue? :?

If you're not using a package manager to install Domoticz you should clean your Domoticz directory and keep nothing but domoticz.db and the scripts directory before installing the new stable. This is in fact good practice for every update you want to install as it prevents orphaned files to remain and possibly (as it does here) cause conflicts.

After upgrading to V 4.9700 I have something that seems odd.

Measurements from 2 different slave servers are not registerred correctly on the master server.
In my case I read 4 parameters from my UPS'es to their respective slave and the salve forward the readings to my master domoticz server.
They display correctly on the slave itself.
The sensors are defined as custom sensors that are polled every minute through a bash script.

After disconnecting and reconnecting the user which the master server is using tot connect to the slave server the problem persists.

The internal Pi measurements ( useage, memory, disk etc.) get updated normally as before the update.
So basically 50% of the sensor are passed on from the slave to the master server ( the Internal Pi motherboard readings) and on the slave itself the bash script works normally for the UPS measurements.
The UPS measurements are not passed over to the master domoticz server. All servers communicate over the remote shared port 6144.

Does anybody have an idea how to fix the measurements of the UPS not being passed to the master server ?

Is this actually 4.9700 as it creates some confusion over the beta being a lower revision in my case 3.9629.

I suspect it's 3.9700 in which it's an upgrade for me and includes all the current Beta goodness.

I found a workaround for my udev problem. Created a symlink from libudev.so to libudev.so.1 in /usr/lib.

Ok, deleted domoticz.js and domoticz.js.gz and updated again (using sudo ./updaterelease). Works now :)

After new Stretch installation and upgrade I gave command "sudo curl -L install.domoticz.com | bash". I did see in terminal:
::: Your system is up to date! Continuing with Domoticz installation...
::: Checking for apt-utils... installed!
::: Checking for whiptail... installed!
::: Checking for git...pi@domoticz:~ $"
Looks like installation stopped before installation completed.

Someone has same problem and possible sollution?

FIXED. Installation went as it should.

Hi, please do not pay attention to my english writing as I'm french.

I have also a problem with my database since the update. Domotics starts then shut down, no problem with a blank database wether on stable or beta.
Here is the log:

Update!

Found it!

TO ALL, if you experience your install, update, whatever getting stuck and you have no clue why, check your internet provider.
Last night after trying installing and updating stretch and Domoticz I had this brainwave, I have to say I came across a thread where someone experienced something similar...
I do have a filtered internet connection, and turns out they filter also a lot of websites which in this case a fine, to use, but it blocked all my Github downloads and Raspbian.org etc.
After I had turned off the filter all went smooth and in one go!
I think it would be very worthy to a lot of people to put a small make aware note with the installs about this.
Apparently, my ISP has improved the filter over time as I did not have this issue last year I believe.
RIght now I am back to full working order with Domoticz.
I don't really experience much improvement, but I think under the hood many things will be up to date again and prepared for much more to come.

Regards Sander

Hello,

I am stuck and very sad at the moment, I read yesterday "you can update as normal" klicked the update button and then big trouble.
Meanwhile I have formated and burnt my Pi towards the advised, my Pi 2B+ is now on stretch lite, but when I try to perform the command: sudo curl -L install.domoticz.com | bash I only get to this point:

pi@Domoticz:~ $ sudo curl -L install.domoticz.com | bash

Well, that looks like I am stuck on the install of Domoticz. I am no programmer, just a handy copy-paste man with some understanding of how things work.
I am very disappointed as I had my system running perfectly since 2015... with updates. I understand this was a biggie, but the WAF factor is no gone, half my house is literally out of control.
I would be very happy for some directions, to get this solved.

Yes I have a DB backup from before things gone mad, but I currently have not the correct files to revert back to the old situation, or the knowledge how to do so.

Thanks Sander

Got a message in my browser about a new update, clicked on it and got the new version 4.97 on my Pi3.
What I no longer have are any switches.....

Tried to remove domoticz.js and did sudo ./updaterelease, clear browser cache and app cache, still no switches
Of course did not create a backup because hey, I got a link to click on...
For some reason, the dashboard does contain switches, also for my roomplans
I also have the iOS app and it still does have the switches.
I tried anyother browser (use Chrome for Domoticz), Firefox, and still no switches

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you also delete domoticz.js.gz before running ./updaterelease again?

I only read problems in this thread.
5 months ago i started whit domticz on a stable version. A month ago i went for a beta version because i wanted to use zigate. Only did one beta install, not every update that pop-up in the browser.
2 days ago i went for the stable version 4.9700. Everything went fine, no problems discovered.

Thanks for in the effort all of you are putting in

I have no skills with Linux, but what i have done is upgraded Wheezy to Jessie and then to Stretch.

wget http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/pool/ma ... _armhf.deb
Start the installation: sudo dpkg -i libssl1.0.0_1.0.1t-1+deb8u7_armhf.deb
After that: sudo service domoticz.sh start

And then all works as usual. Thanks for Gizmocus and his team for this update.

Is this actually 4.9700 as it creates some confusion over the beta being a lower revision in my case 3.9629.

I suspect it's 3.9700 in which it's an upgrade for me and includes all the current Beta goodness.
I see you renamed it all 4.9700+ now :)
