How to Add and control wifi lights based on ESP8266 Espressif chip and NodeMCU firmware ?

Postby masterminds » Saturday 19 November 2016 20:30

I recently purchased wifi enabled bulbs from aliexpress, link of the same is http://bit.ly/2fOhgp2 they can be controlled from an app. So it is just the bulbs, home wifi router and and the app (no separate controller).

I was content with the setup UNTIL I watched some wicked automation setups using Domoticz platform (lights go off when xbmc plays video etc). I now want to do that but in hardware those bulbs are not mentioned and me being new to this have no clue as to what to do. A member here has done something similar http://blog.quindorian.org/2016/07/esp8266-lighting-revisit-and-history-of-quinled.html

I have the ip address, mac address, port scanning on ip address shows 5000/udp open|filtered upnp. Then chip is from Espressif and is running NodeMCU firmware (lwIP stack).

Please help me to get this working with Domoticz, thanks in advance

Found this in a review

I guess quality is acceptable since it cost me only 15$. Solder work inside is ... not so good. There is no isolation between power supply PCB and surrounding metal heat shield (I'm guessing what it is). Top PCB with LEDs is silicon glued to heat shield body, but body itself is plastic outside, which I guess is not so good for cooling. I have not tested it yet, just looked inside. WIFI controller is ESP8266 which is good thing if you want to use your own firmware. There is four holes in small PCB under LED PCB where ESP8266 is mounted (+3.3V, not labeled, not labeled, GND) which may be is UART, and two more holes which are also are unlabeled. LEDs must be 12V since I see 3.3V and 12V labels on PCB. Memory chip is Winbond 25Q80BVSIG which is 8Mbit chip (1MB). LED Chip Brand: Sharp, LED Chip Model: SMD5050

Does this help ?

This is where have my updates. (not that anybody is responding or helping :( )
