Brel Blinds

Post by Chucky69 » Saturday 09 January 2016 16:29

Hi All,

I just started with Domoticz a few weeks back.
Domoticz (v2.4031) runs on a synology nas and I use the RFXtrx433E USB as interface to my 433Mhz clients.
I have successful added some cheap outlet switches and a temperature sensor.

My issue is to connect to my Brel blinds motor. According http://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic ... rel#p50274 the Brel blinds motor should work with RFXCOM. That doesn't mean that Domoticz can work with it of course. I cannot find a reference in the documentation.
Unlucky the above link is also the only subpage I can find in the whole forum with searching on "Brel".

So I'm hoping that someone successfully connected a Brel blinds engine to Domoticz or that someone can guide me to a solution.

Details:
The Brel engine: 45MR40
Brel remote: CS-250

I tried the learn command in Domoticz, but that didn't see the pressed button commands at all.
Add it manually doesn't work sinc I don't know the ID and Unit code. I did learn that I should use as type "Blinds T6 DC106"
I do know that the current remote had to be connected within 10 seconds after putting power on the engine with clicking 2 times on the programming button on the remote.
A next remote could be added with pressing 2 times on the programming button of the connected remote, and one time on the to be added one.

Hopefully someone can help me with this

Try with RFXmngr:
Select T6 Brel on the Blinds1 tab,
Select a random ID and unit code,
Put the motor in learning mode, (see the Brel user manual)
Transmit a Confirm command.

Didn't had some time to pick this up before.
I'm reading this again and you mention to do it with RFXmngr which is a windows application.
So I need to take the RFXtrx433E from my NAS to my PC and try to connect from there.

Once succeeded I must move it back to the NAS and try to use it?
That would mean that the "pairing" is done within the RFXtrx433E and not in the Domoticz software, am I correct?
Or is it just to see if it can connect at all?

Maybe also possible in Domoticz using the TEST button which is available during creation of the device.

Many thanks b_weijenberg!

I have it working :D
First I tried via the Domoticz (FXtrx433E on NAS), but that doesn't work out. It only sends "OK" to the device which doesn't help "pairing" the two.

Then I took the FXtrx433E to my PC and I tried to connect the 2 with each other following your steps: (Adjusted the procedure for other readers)
  • Use RFXmngr and connect to your FXtrx433E
  • Go to the "Blinds1" tab and change "Type" to "T6 DC106,RMF,Yooda,Dooya,ESMO,Brel"
  • Select a random "ID" and "unit code", make a note of these
  • Set the command to "Confirm"
  • Put the Brel motor in learning mode (> 10 seconds disconnected from power) and connect the motor again.
  • Transmit twice the command (= Confirm, which has been setup two lines above) within 3 seconds after power connect.
  • Test if it works with changing the command to "Open", "Close" and "Stop" and Transmit it.
(If it doesn't work repeat the last 3 steps)
  • Once it works, push the disconnect button in RFXmngr
  • Connect the FXtrx433E back to the NAS
  • In Domoticz I created a Switch by pushing the "Manual" button under "Switches"
  • Give the Switch a name and change the "Switch Type" to Blinds.
  • Then enter exactly the earlier written down "ID" and "Unit Code" in their fields
  • Add the switch and check the functionality

Hi guys,

I've an BREL remote also. It's a 5 channel remote for all my blinds (3 in front of house, 1 in the back). Is it possible to connect it just by adding an additional remote? I've read on the site from brel-motors that it's possible to push the p2 button 2 times on the current remote, and then 1 time on the new (rfxcom) remote. Is it possible to send a sort-of p2 signal with the rfxcom? I'm trying to add the blinds without to put the power of (and screw the plate off from the blind).

Maybe it's possible to learn the switch/remote to domoticz directly? It works also with the kaku remote / door sensor from kaku? Somebody an answer? Thanks in advance!

Try this:
Use RFXmngr and select Blinds1 - T6 Brel,
Select a random ID and unit code, (use this ID/unit code also in Domoticz)
Select the motor to pair on the Brel remote and press P2 twice,
Transit a Confirm command.

Select the same ID for all motors that you want to control with a unit code=All.

If the confirm command does not operate contact support rfxcom.com

Thanks for the quick reply!
So I have to give all the (4) motors the same id with different unit codes? So something like:
id: 123.123.123.123 - unit: 1
id: 123.123.123.123 - unit: 2
id: 123.123.123.123 - unit: 3
id: 123.123.123.123 - unit: 4

And then a command with the same id with the units on all for closing all blinds together?

I will try this tonight!

The ID is a hex code and can be 00 to FF.
Unit 0 is used to control all motors with the same ID.

For example:
ID: 01 02 03 4 - unit: 1
ID: 01 02 03 4 - unit: 2
ID: 01 02 03 4 - unit: 3
ID: 01 02 03 4 - unit: 4

ID: 01 02 03 4 - unit: 0 will now control all motors above.

I've tried it. But it's not working. I've set it to a side motor, but when i click 2 times p2, then transmit a confirm by rfxcom, it does nothing. When I push close, it won't work. I will send an email to rfxcom.

Hi I'm having partially succes. I can control the Brel Blinds through the remote controller (adding it with the P2 button) OR I can control the blinds through rfxmngr/domoticz. BUT I cannot seem to get both working. I Want to use the remote for my wife (and parents in law when they stay over) and I want to let it be controlled by Domoticz as well. Now Domoticz controls the blinds (sunset, sun dawn) and works perfectely. But unfortunately the remote doesnt work now. Manual says push twice P2 existing remote and then one time P2 from new remote. So I tried this with confirm command from rfxmngr as new remote but no luck.

Any ideas?

pair the Brel as primary remote.
Add the RFXtrx433E as second remote in the motor.

To add a second remote:
Press the P2 button twice on the Brel remote ==> 2 beeps
Transmit a confirm command with the RFXtrx433E ==> 5 beeps

See also the Brel user guide how to add a second remote.

Thank you b_weijenberg for your quick reply

Well yes, that's what I tried. But it seemed that the confrim button is not seen as a P2 button.

I pushed twice P2 (with according beeps from the motor) then the confrim through the mngr programm on my laptop (on the roof nearby the motor) but I hear no sound (no beeps / no 5 beeps whatsoever). i will try to delete all the remotes saturday (more time) and add the remote first. Then I will try and add the RFXtrx433E again as a second remote.

The 433Mhz device is a BREL DC-50 receiver and is able to learn commands of 20 transmitters

I will report back after saturday if I succeeded or not.

I got it working !!!

I thought I had to switch the power off and on to put the brel receiver in learning mode also to add another remote. therfore I could only pair one at a time. I didnt have to go up the roof to disconnect the power. I was a bit misleading in the manual. It starts with "power on" and the p2 twice original remote and then transmit/p2 new remote. Because it said power on I thought the power had to be switched off before adding another remote.

I could have done it all sitting in my couch instead of going up the roof and disconnect power...

now to add some script !! :-)

A great that means if we follow instructions from b_weijenberg pair the first Brel remote..
Stay in the couch..
We can eventually add a domoticz remote :)
by pairing it first with a self chosen ID using rfxmngr after the original remote has been paired.

The result would be a happy wife factor (original remote)
And fully automated screens via domoticz. A happy me. :)

Okay, just a small recap.

Pair the original remote first.
Go to the couch
Then setup with rfxcom I have 433 so without E but that should not be a problem.
Just wondering if it will also work with the rflink.

I'll answer this topic for myself ;-)

Today the new blinds arrived with an original remote.
The seller demonstrated the blinds remote of the Brel.
I had just pressed the 'allow new hardware for 5 minutes button. ;-) just in case.

After the demonstration I looked for unused devices and the RFLINK (Thanks Stuntteam) had already decoded the message of the original remote.
Instantly I could have domoticz open and close the blinds. Even the seller amazed. Well had to see his face opening the screens with "google home" 5 minutes later. ;)

In my opinion I call this a significant imrpovement of RFLINK over RFXCom.
The RFXcom according to the manual is only able to SEND the Brel commands.
Not receive them.
So the actual engine needs to learn the RFXCom device as the RFLink just reads an existing device.

Have a nice weekend!

Hello,

I'm thinking about purchasing the BREL motors also for wooden blinds in my new home. Did you buy the RTS RFLink component at NODO?
Does it gives feedback from the roller blinds of current status and also possible to set to 50 % or just open/close/stop ?

Like to hear from you.

I don't think it gives a status, it's just a one-way command. I have tested this when I close the blinds with my DC306A remote and it just says 'OPEN' on my Domoticz app. As far as I know it's just open/close/stop.

But this is for the RFXtrx433E USB I don't know how this is arranged in the RFLink.

Just some additional info to add the RFXtrx433E USB as a second remote.

I have a DC306A (5 channel remote) for my ESMO blinds, but it works the same way as the BREL blinds.

Use RFXmngr and select Blinds1 - T6 Brel,
Select a random ID and unit code, (use this ID/unit code also in Domoticz)
Select the motor to pair on the Brel remote and press P2 twice. Mind to press the P2 once wait for a beep then another time and then also wait for the beep.
Transit a Confirm command via the RFXmngr and you should hear 5 beeps, confirming that you added the RFXtrx433 USB as a second remote.
Test the open and close command to see if it's working.

My problem was that I pressed the P2 button too fast after each other, resulting in not hearing the 5 beeps after issuing the Confirm command.

RFLInk detects Brel automatically. Just enable 5 minutes new hardware detection en press a button on the remote or generate your own.
open/close/stop is supported.
