@jem: does this only happen in the Aurora theme, or also in other themes?

Python plugin: Xiaomi Mi Flower Mate

With this plugin you can easily connect to your Xiaomi Flower Mate devices. These are Bluetooth LE plant monitoring devices which cost about 12 dollars. They last up to a year on a coincell battery, and measure moisture, temperature, light and conductivity. https://wiki.hackerspace.pl/projects:xiaom...

Python Plugin: best way to do asynchronous work?

What is the 'official' way to do asynchronous calls in the python plugin framework? For example, I'm getting data form bluetooth low energy devices. That takes a while, and there could be a communication time-out. In order to not hang the entire system, I created a second python script that does the...

Updating python plugin sensors via the api:not allowed?

I'm trying to update a device created by a python plugin via the domoticz API. But it doesn't seem to register. - I tested 'normal' devices, and I can update those without a problem. - Updating a sensor created via a python plugin seems to go ok in theory, as the api returns this: { "status" : "OK",...

Re: Python Plugin: GPIO SYSFS Switches

Hey Arjen

In theory you did everything right.

Check your log. Does it mention the plugin system booting?
Are you running the beta?
Do other plugins work?

Re: Python Plugin: GPIO SYSFS Switches

Yes, it should be in a directory like that. Something like:

domoticz/plugins/sysfs_switches/plugin.py

You selected the wrong hardware too. It should be "sysfs pins" or "sysfs switches" (I just changed the name of the plugin to make it more recognisable)

Re: Can this help solve the segmentation faults when importing python modules in plugin??

I've create a small guide on how to quickly deal with this issue on the wiki (and updated the rest of the python plugin page too):

Re: Python Plugin: GPIO SYSFS Switches

@arjenw:

- You install it just like every other plugin.
- You don't have to change the script. You can simply add the desired pin in the Domoticz interface, under hardware.

Please read the documentation.

Re: Aurora theme

@holland: // Just wondering if there is any support to change display of this device, so that the total power usage (kWh), is shown. - the theme has no control over which data Domoticz outputs. It's just a theme. So it cannot add extra data. //Would it be possible to add a setting, that makes it pos...

Re: Can this help solve the segmentation faults when importing python modules in plugin??

Hmm. The Smart Virtual Thermostat..

- It opens a http link
- It uses the URLLIB Parse function to handle CSV lists.

- It does not open a https link though.

Set update frequency?

Is it possible to set the internal update frequency (heartbeat?) of Domoticz? I would like it to run every 2 seconds.

Re: Can this help solve the segmentation faults when importing python modules in plugin??

Ok, so the conclusion seems to be that URLLIB is the culprit.

What's next?

Search for that error on the forum and you'll soon discover the problem. The python plugin system has some bugs still.

Re: Can this help solve the segmentation faults when importing python modules in plugin??

Any thoughts on this? I just had my first run-in with the segmentation fault. DietPi (Stretch) with Python 2.7 Python 3 Python 3.5 All plugins working except Smart Virtual Thermostat. It imports: import Domoticz import json import urllib.parse as parse import urllib.request as request from datetime ...

Another option might be to run it from a USB stick.

Re: Aurora theme

@bdormael: glad to hear it!
@jeanclic: yes, just click on the text, and it will transform into an input field. Click outside it when you are done changing it, and the new value will be stored. This makes it a lot easier to, for example, set the text of a LED display via MySensors.
