Re: Domoticz NanoPi

Very cool, you will probably want about a 256mb zram config with that much ram though.

It will run Domoticz but definately not my setup (without zram) and maybe only just with it. :)

Re: email notification when a user disarmed the alarm

Now I understand, the logic you are looking for: If x user controls x device and state = x then perform x (send an email in your case). One solution I can think of is this: Create a dummy device for each user and in security lock it down so only they and the domoticz admin user can see their dummy d...

Re: email notification when a user disarmed the alarm

How exactly will Domoticz know which user disarmed the alarm?

What is the interface with Domoticz?

Re: email notification when a user disarmed the alarm

Yes this is easily possible but I don't see the need to explain it specifically for your use case in this post. The alarm is simply a device of which the typical Domoticz home usually has dozens if not hundreds. You need to read the Wiki and perhaps some threads in this forum to find how to send a n...

Re: Commands to be carried out by the Pi 3b+

Personally I'm using this .bat file to turn the screen off on Windows 10 TurnoffScreen.bat powershell -WindowStyle Hidden -NonInteractive (Add-Type '[DllImport(\"user32.dll\")]^public static extern int SendMessage(int hWnd, int hMsg, int wParam, int lParam);' -Name a -Pas)::SendMessage(-1,0x0112,0xF...

Re: Commands to be carried out by the Pi 3b+

One way would be to setup an SSH Server on the Windows host then use something like nircmd with sshpass (apt-get install sshpass) on the Raspberry. Eg, from the Raspberry (not exact) to execute a command on the Windows PC, it would look something like this: sshpass -p "PASSWORD" ssh "USERNAME"@"IPOF...

Re: Raspbian update warning!!!

Proxmox (no subscription) on a cheap Intel i3 NUC with 8gb ram and a small 250gb Samsung SSD. The OS for the Domoticz VM I'm using is Debian 9 which is what Raspbian Stretch is based off. Like I said pretty much instant backup and restores of the whole VM and can configure backups to a NAS as well. ...

Re: Raspbian update warning!!!

Personally I think the best solution is to run Domoticz as a KVM VM and do USB pass through. I've been running Domoticz on an Intel NUC running Proxmox for years with automatic entire vm nightly backups to my NAS. I can backup and restore in seconds, even to another NUC in my Proxmox cluster and jus...

Re: Raspbian update warning!!!

I'd have a look at replacing the SD with one of these.

Only just released, it's a Micro SD focused on endurance.

Re: SSH Port Forwarding Notes

Why you dont use VPN connection from home to VPS and routing via iptables? I am using this setup for my server which is connected via 3G mobile modem (no external IP address) This method is a lot simpler for most use cases and quite suitable for forwarding just one or two ports which is all that I ...

SSH Port Forwarding Notes

Hey folks, Posting my notes on SSH port forwarding (I'll definately use these again in the future) but some may find them helpful. I use SSH port forwarding when I don't have a static IP address or I am behind a carrier grade NAT and want to access a port externally (Domoticz for example) from a sta...

I used HS2 (HomeSeer) for years and also have a Vera. I made the move to Domoticz about 3 years ago and honestly couldn't be happier with it. The rate of development is incredible not to mention the hardware compatibility. My system consists of Phillips Hue, Z-Wave, RFXCOM, Logitech Harmony, Amazon ...

I don't see how this could have caused your volume to crash though. I'm thinking there was probably an issue with one of your disks or a memory fault since that model does not have ECC memory.

Re: Script to restart Domoticz if it crashes

A running service doesn’t mean it’s running ;) Absolutely correct! You must use an alternate method that tests if the service is actually running. I wrote a simple bash script here: https://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=3016&sid=a4e9c3646367f85523241f4eb598a931&start=140#p170196 Alter...

Check that script again, I made one change to use the switch itself for the 2 second rule.
