Re: Rain info 'too accurate'

Raingauges are used for measuring precipitation ;-) That is not only the water from showers, but also the water coming from drizzle, fog and dew, and to 'catch' that level of precipitation as a function of time , a resolution of 0.1mm becomes meaningful. More resolution generally is not meaningful, ...

Rain info 'too accurate'

Version: v3.8823 Platform: Raspberry Description: Triggered by the expected, stormy winds, looking at the weather-info as reported by my 2 PWSes. Side-observation that at the dashboard since some time the display resolution for rain is much too high. domoticz-2018-01-18-12-11-46.png For rain a resol...

Re: No graph data for 31/12/2017

Presently use V3.8153 and v3.8798 at 2 Raspberries.
Both show graphs for each day, incl. 31 december 2017

Re: Thermometer

Do you already have a router or gateway with WiFi @2,4GHz? Then application of ESP8266&ESPEasy is most easy, in combination with 1 Domoticz on a Raspberry. The ESP8266es use the WiFi for communication. Connect your Raspberry to the Wifi-router (dependent on type, either by cable, or by WiFi as well)...

Correct: ESP8266es operate within a 'normal' WiFi-network @2.4GHz.

Re: DS18b20 and long wire : how to set up a switched star network ?

IMHO, DS18B20 operates best in a chain/bus configuration, not a star-configuration: see the datasheet . 'Star' can be done, but it is not according to design. Perhaps for your application it is an option to make a chain per floor with a related processor per floor (like bbqkees suggests), and then l...

Custom Graph: fixed colours instead of variation

Probably applicable for all Domoticz-versions having custom-graph for temperatures Each time I make a new custom-graph I am surprised by a new set of colours. I have not figured out which system/mechanism is the base of the colour-selection. That variation of colours makes it (more) difficult to ex...

Re: owner crontab

@Curious

My remark refers to seeing

Code: Select all

drwx-wx--T
A 'normal/simple' folder or file will have a property-string with rwx-combinations.

Re: owner crontab

Looking at the output for ls -l in /var/spool/cron, agree with Janni that 'properties' are definitely not normal in that folder.

Code: Select all

[email protected]:/var/spool/cron$ ls -l
total 4
drwx-wx--T 2 root crontab 4096 Nov 24 11:11 crontabs
BTW, I use crontab -e to manage my cron

Re: owner crontab

If I look in /var/spool/cron at my Raspberries, I see 'root' as owner for that folder.

Difference of owner causes problems:
see also this disccusion (and similar) at StackOverflow.

Name 'pi' for that file relative to owner 'pi' is confusing.

Re: Script to restart Domoticz if it crashes

Reading back info from a website as an indicator whether "the link & upload & the uploading computer is operational" has it's limitations, because sometimes the website or the receiving application extrapolates data, and then in the read-out you get info including validity time, which apparently is...

Re: Script to restart Domoticz if it crashes

Really a pain-in-the-ass if a 'counter-measure' is not reliable. Besides a 'user' cron with more lines, in the 'sudo' cron I put a simple, single line for periodic reboot, but apparently even that does not work. Even worse, sometimes I see that after the ordered reboot the applications/scripts do no...

Re: Reading XML with LUA?

;-) A script that runs without errors is always nice! But your addition of the variable numbers +11 ~ +14 at the end of the lines, is exactly the aspect I tried to avoid, because it still means manual counting of positions. I tried to achieve 'full automation', which seemed successful in 2 out of 3 ...

Re: Weather station

'PC' can also be a Raspberry or comparable processor.
E.g. the console of PWS type TFA_Nexus has an USB-interface and you can connect it and read-out with Domoticz-on-Raspberry: use TE923 as setting under Hardware. TE923 is a generally applied USB-interfaceformat for many PWSes.

Re: Generate custom charts server side?

One significant side-effect noted for RRDTools in combination with Domoticz, Python etc.: any gap in update of the RRD-database is mercilessly exposed in the graph. ;-) Obviously is correct, but is a problematic aspect e.g. for continuous registration of data from Domoticz. Although your data-source...

Re: Weather station

Most weather stations have an 'inside'-sensor' for temperature, humidity and pressure. Some have that as part of the console, other as separate, wireless sensor at 433MHz or 868MHz, or as a combination of console & separate sensor. In the first and latter case the console's USB-interface (or similar...

Re: split RFLINK to two raspberries

Why so complicated? Peripherals on one USB-hub shared by 2 computers is not a simple thing.
To keep things simple&reliable, just keep them separate and use an RFLink per Raspberry.

Re: Generate custom charts server side?

After further experiments (see e.g. this link ), now the set of lua-script with related sh-files with RRDTool-application is 'Up & Running' at a Raspberry with Domoticz, related to a setup with Personal Weather Station type TFA_Nexus and a sensor type BMP180 hooked to the Raspberry. Below are the 3 ...
